49 Years old, DOB 7-25-1964 Self employed professional high rise and residential vacation home window cleaner Wife: Shawnessy Son: Mason, 17 Surfing, snowboarding and fishing are some of my hobbies I was born into a racing family in a racing town, Fresno California. Racing is in my blood. I enjoyed riding anything two wheeled while growing up. First a taco 5 hp mini bike then on to a 72 Yamaha mx 80 after a few years the dirt bikes were sold and I quickly made the transition from motorcycles to BMX in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I found my passion racing BMX nationals in the expert class up and down the west coast until 18. In 1984, I moved to San Diego and my passions turned more towards skating and surfing. In the mid 80s I surfed practically every day and along the way I learned to clean high rise windows which allowed me the freedom to eventually move to the big waves of Hawaii. During those 20 years gone from motorcycles I felt something missing which I found after re locating back to central California when I bought a used KTM 625sxc in 2005 to explore the mountains and maybe ride the Mojave. In the same year, after seeing Dust to Glory on the big screen and then Chris Blais taking it to just about every one of the Euro racers in the African held Dakar rally I was immediately hooked. I dropped everything and set myself on a mission to race marathon desert races and rallyes which has brought me here…. October can not get here soon enough! I look forward to meeting the challenge that Breauxman has put up for the pilots competing in the inaugural Baja Rally and would like to thank him in advance for his hard work in getting this rally organized. The UK born American served in the military and made documentary films for National Geographic and once followed the African Dakar Rally from Europe to Cape Town on his bike. That obviously qualifies him to own and operate his company REDVERZ, which specializes in state of the art camping tents designed for the adventure moto market. After his first attempt at the grueling DAKAR RALLY in 2013 (where he suffered a crash early in the rally) he is building his endurance and nav skills with his entry in the Inaugural BAJA RALLY. He will make his second attempt at the DAKAR RALLY this January 2014. I was first introduced to motorcycles by my grandfather, who had raced motorcycles as a young man on the beach in Daytona in the 1930's. I started riding in the mid 70's on Honda Xl and Xr models around the family farm. I've had a love of things mechanical since my earliest memories and motorcycles are the perfect outlet for that passion; at the age of 12 I fabricated a go-kart which used a Yamaha 175 2-stroke for a power plant. Also during my early teen years I became familiar with a race that was happening in the deserts of North Africa. I remember seeing some coverage of the Paris Dakar (probably on ABC's Wide World of Sports) and immediately thought I would like to participate in it someday. Having never raced as in my youth, my racing efforts have begun at a late age. I've been running in Hare Scrambles locally for the past 3 years. In terms of desert riding, I've pre-run the Baja 500 while supporting a friend, raced in the V2R in 2012 and raced in 2 of the NASA Rally Moto Sandblast rallies. It's my goal to get myself across the finish of the Dakar. I'm working on building my resume' and race experience by participating in the available North American desert races and I'm very excited to be a part of the inaugural Baja Rally. Because he hails from Idaho, he doesn’t harbor any of the stereotypical SoCal superficial insecurities present in many of today’s off road racers. One thing people would never know about Chilly is that he once bred a horned toad with a hamster. With official appearances at ISDE, Romaniacs and SCORE’S BAJA SERIES, Chilly will make his rally debut at the inaugural BAJA RALLY “just because it’s a new way to do an event down in BAJA” My name is Ben Myburgh and I think I may be the youngest racer attending. I am 24 years old and have been truly blessed by everything that has happened in my life and owe everything I have to God. My love for motorcycles comes from my father and my background in bicycle trials. In high school my father and I started riding together and that is where the adventure riding bug bite me. While working at my own business as a flight instructor in 2009 I convinced my dad to race Black River Stages Rally with me. The precious time we spent together was rattled however when 2 days after racing my father would fall from the second floor of his business balcony only to be crushed by a falling desk. My father spent the next year in and out of ICU for 20+ surgeries when in Oct 2010 he passed away from brain cancer, still not being fully recovered from the fall. Being that motorcycle was the last thing I did with my father and was really the first time we got to spend as an actual father and son, motorcycle is something I will always cherish. After his passing I decided I should sell my business at the flight school and take a motorcycle trip. The trip was something I did for my dad because is was something he always dreamed of doing. The trip started in TN and ended in TN... 25,000 miles later around the world. Now back from the trip and back in school for engineering following my fathers foot steps I have my eyes set on the Dakar Rally and feel that the Baja Rally is my opportunity to begin my next journey. Angelo Vlcek, 38 years old, born and raced in Czech Republic, moved to USA 17 years ago. Most of my riding been on paved roads till about 4 years ago when I slowly got in to dirt-bikes and got hooked. I don't have much racing history at all, I just recently did Delaware state enduro race and have few lined up for August and September. In Rally stuff I'm totally green but always wanted to get in to it and after Altrider taste of Dakar in Feb with J.Lewis I was hooked. Arthur's first motorcycle was a brand new Harley Davidson 125cc dual sport, followed by a Honda CL185. After 30 years of minimal riding he bought a KTM 650 Enduro and participated in two of Scott Harden's Nevada Rally Experience events. He then went on a Death Valley Rally. He currently lives in southern New Mexico, where he can go to the end of his driveway and turn right for street riding or turn left for dirt riding. |
